The combination of the antibacterial AB22 coconut-based activated carbon block and a polyphosphate cartridge provides effective drinking water filtration and protection against limescale buildup.
The AB22 carbon block reduces a wide range of contaminants, including pesticides, selected PFAS compounds, chlorine, microplastics, and organic impurities, while the polyphosphate treatment helps prevent limescale deposits in taps, plumbing installations, coffee machines, kettles, and other household appliances that use water.
Polyphosphate works by stabilising calcium and magnesium minerals in the water, making them less likely to form hard limescale deposits. Unlike conventional water softening systems, it does not remove these naturally occurring minerals.
This combined filtration and anti-limescale solution helps reduce scale buildup, protect water-using appliances, and minimise the need for frequent descaling.

Ecoline Duo comes fully assembled with pre-installed fittings and filter cartridges. All you need to do is connect the supplied hoses. Installation typically takes around 10 minutes and normally does not require a plumber. The annual replacement of the filter cartridges is equally simple and can be completed in just a few minutes.

How does the Ecoline Duo AL water filter work?
Ecoline Duo AL combines two filtration technologies in one compact under-sink system.
The first stage uses our antibacterial AB22 coconut-based activated carbon block to reduce a wide range of contaminants, including selected PFAS compounds, pesticides, chlorine, microplastics and organic impurities.
The second stage contains a polyphosphate cartridge that helps prevent limescale buildup in taps, plumbing installations and household appliances without removing the water's natural minerals.
Does Ecoline Duo AL remove limescale from drinking water?
Ecoline Duo AL helps prevent limescale deposits rather than removing the calcium and magnesium responsible for water hardness.
The polyphosphate treatment stabilises hardness minerals, making them less likely to form hard deposits on surfaces and inside water-using appliances.
This means the water retains its naturally occurring minerals while the formation of limescale deposits is reduced.
Can the filter help protect coffee machines and kettles from limescale?
Yes. The polyphosphate cartridge helps reduce limescale buildup in coffee machines, electric kettles, taps and other household appliances that use water.
By limiting the formation of hard calcium deposits, the system can help reduce the need for frequent descaling and protect internal components from scale accumulation.
The level of protection depends on water hardness, temperature and operating conditions.
Does Ecoline Duo AL reduce PFAS and pesticides?
Yes. The AB22 activated carbon block is designed to reduce a wide range of contaminants, including selected PFAS compounds such as PFOS, PFOA and PFNA, as well as pesticides, herbicides, chlorine, microplastics and various organic impurities.
The actual reduction depends on the specific contaminant, its concentration, water composition and flow rate.
Does the filter remove healthy minerals from the water?
No. Unlike reverse osmosis systems, Ecoline Duo AL does not remove dissolved minerals such as calcium and magnesium.
The activated carbon block reduces selected unwanted substances, while the polyphosphate cartridge helps prevent hardness minerals from forming limescale deposits.
What is the difference between Ecoline Duo AL and a conventional water softener?
A conventional ion-exchange water softener reduces water hardness by replacing calcium and magnesium ions with other ions, typically sodium.
Ecoline Duo AL works differently. Its polyphosphate cartridge helps prevent scale formation without removing the minerals.
The system is therefore intended for drinking water filtration and limescale prevention rather than complete water softening.
How often should the filter cartridges be replaced?
The AB22 activated carbon cartridge has a maximum capacity of 22,000 litres. Its replacement interval is up to 24 months in chlorinated water and 12 months in non-chlorinated water, depending on operating conditions.
The AK12 polyphosphate cartridge should be replaced after a maximum of 12 months.
Actual cartridge life may vary depending on water quality and consumption.
Is the AB22 carbon block antibacterial?
Yes. The AB22 cartridge contains bacteriostatic filter material designed to inhibit bacterial growth within and on the filter material itself.
This feature should not be confused with the removal of bacteria from contaminated drinking water. For water with a risk of bacterial contamination, a suitable ultrafiltration system is recommended.
How much filtered water can Ecoline Duo AL deliver?
Ecoline Duo AL is designed to maintain a practical water flow rate of approximately 6–7 litres per minute, depending on the installation, incoming water pressure and cartridge condition.
This allows filtered water to be supplied directly through your existing kitchen tap.
Is an additional drinking water tap required?
No. Ecoline Duo AL connects directly to the existing cold water supply beneath the kitchen sink.
Filtered water is delivered through your existing kitchen tap, so there is no need to install a separate drinking water faucet.
Does the system require electricity or produce wastewater?
No. Ecoline Duo AL operates entirely using the existing water pressure.
It requires no electricity, storage tank or drain connection and produces no wastewater during filtration.
Is Ecoline Duo AL easy to install?
Yes. The system is supplied assembled with pre-installed fittings and filter cartridges.
